NCC louvers are simply classified into the following types according to their performance: rainproof ventilation louvers, silencing ventilation louvers, Sand-Trap Louvers, etc.
The main purpose of Sand-Trap Louvers is to prevent sand and dust from entering the building from the outside and maintain the cleanliness and safety of the interior.
Sand-Trap Louvers are usually used at the vents of building entrances, exits, and basements, as well as for sand prevention on some building curtain walls and hotel exterior walls.

The specification shown in Table 2 matches very closely desert type sand and dust, and illustrates an overall grade. Other grades of sand can also be used for the tests and are specified as follows:
a) FINE - sand between 106 and 150 um. b) COARSE - sand between 355 and 425 um.
